Permanent Cosmetics
What is Permanent Cosmetics?
Permanent Cosmetics, also known as micropigmentation, is a cosmetic tattooing technique that uses specialized pigments to enhance and define features such as eyebrows, eyeliner, and lip color. The procedure involves depositing the pigment into the upper layers of the skin using a needle or blade, resulting in a permanent effect that can last for several years. The benefits of Permanent Cosmetics include the convenience of not having to apply makeup every day, saving time and effort, as well as the ability to achieve a natural-looking enhancement of one’s features.
Rebel Aesthetic is a leading cosmetic tattooing studio that offers a range of permanent cosmetic services, including microblading, lip blush, and eyeliner tattooing. Expert practitioner, Tara Rebel, uses state-of-the-art equipment and techniques to ensure the highest quality results that meet each client’s individual needs and preferences.

frequently asked questions
How long does permanent makeup last before needing a touch-up?
Most permanent makeup treatments last between twelve and eighteen months before the colour begins to noticeably soften. The exact timeframe depends on your skin type, lifestyle, and how well you protect the area from sun exposure. Oily skin tends to metabolise pigment more quickly, while drier skin often retains colour longer. Regular touch-ups help maintain the intensity and shape, and most clients return once a year to keep the result looking fresh and defined.
Does the treatment hurt during the appointment?
A topical anaesthetic is applied before and during the procedure to minimise discomfort. Most clients describe the sensation as mild pressure or a scratching feeling rather than sharp pain. Sensitivity varies depending on the area being treated and your personal pain tolerance. Lips tend to be slightly more sensitive than brows, while eyeliner work requires extra care due to the delicate skin. The anaesthetic is reapplied as needed throughout the session to keep you comfortable.
Can I wear makeup immediately after my appointment?
You should avoid applying makeup directly on the treated area for at least seven to ten days whilst the skin heals. Makeup can introduce bacteria and interfere with the healing process, which may affect pigment retention. You can wear makeup on other parts of your face as long as it doesn’t come into contact with the treated area. Once the initial healing phase is complete and any flaking has resolved, you can resume your normal makeup routine without concern.
What if I don't like the color after it heals?
Color adjustments can be made during a follow-up appointment once the skin has fully healed, which typically takes four to six weeks. If the pigment is too light, additional color can be added to increase intensity. If it’s slightly darker than you’d prefer, the color will naturally soften over the following weeks and months. Significant color changes or corrections require careful planning and may take more than one session, depending on the existing pigment and your desired outcome.
Is there anyone who shouldn't have this treatment?
Certain health conditions, medications, and skin sensitivities can make permanent makeup unsuitable or require extra precautions. If you’re pregnant, breastfeeding, undergoing chemotherapy, or taking blood-thinning medications, it’s best to wait. Active skin infections, keloid scarring tendencies, and certain autoimmune conditions may also affect your eligibility. During your consultation, you’ll discuss your medical history in detail to determine whether the treatment is safe and appropriate for you, and what adjustments might be needed.
